Ortea Vegan Collective Rua Dom Luis Lisbon 9th September 2022

Ortea Vegan Collective was our lunch stop in Lisbon, the last port on our cruise and it was by far the best food since we set off from Southampton.

Ortea is an oasis of calm in the busy city of Lisbon, its so tranquil so you relax and chill out and can sit either inside or outside.

We were hot and thirsty so chose a cold lemonade and melon and lime juices, which were so refreshing and cooling.

The menu has plenty of choice, everything is made inhouse, including breads, cakes and vegan cheeses and everything is gluten free.

To start we chose Root for me and Gema for Steven and when the plates were served, we sat in awe of their beauty and presentation.   The flavours did not disappoint either, the dishes were wonderful, mouth watering and delicious, we did not want to finish our starters

I chose Declaracao for my mains, with Sediments for Steven and once more we sat in wonder, as the plates were placed in front of us.   The main courses were scrumptious, satisfying, full of flavour, colourful and very tasty, we left clean plates.

To be honest we were fit to burst after our mains, but how could anyone resist nectarine pan to share for dessert, just feast your eyes on this lip smacking pudding.

The cakes on in the display cabinet were amazing too, so I took loads of photos to drool over when we were back onboard.

This is some of the best vegan food we have eaten anywhere, its accomplished creative cooking, beautifully presented and I take my hat off to the chefs.

We revisited for lunch on the 29th April 2023 on another cruise and could not fault the food or presentation once more.   We ordered a tomato houmous and mushroom bruschetta to share and it was divine and I still cannot believe how fabulous the gluten free bread is.

We ordered some of the raw dishes for mains, so beet mille feuille, cashews, carrot and passionfruit emulsion and buckwheat, roast pumpkin, chestnuts, feta salad with green apple vinaigrette.   When the beet dish arrived I was taken aback by its beauty and presentation, it was truly a picture on a plate and both dishes were absolutely scrumptious.

We were too full for dessert on this occasion, but just check out the cakes in the display counter, what a wonderful choice of vegan desserts.

If you ever visit Lisbon, this place has to be on your radar, it is a truly a vegan oasis of gorgeous food, in lovely chilled surroundings.   Highly recommended.
