Peasholm Park Vegan B&B Victoria Park Scarborough 8th - 10th August 2019

Peasholm Park Vegan B&B was opened by Karl and Helen in March this year, opposite the beautiful Japanese inspired Peasholm Park, with its woodland walks, gardens, boating lake and more.   The location is ideal for sightseeing, going to nearby North Bay Beach, miniature steam railway and town centre with its shops, restaurants, cafes and bars, with a bus service close by to take you into town, if you do not want to walk.   Karl and Helen have plans to upgrade and make improvements to Peasholm Park as time goes on, but it is a big property and Rome was not built in a day, but I cannot wait to see what they do.

There are lovely gardens and outside seating areas, to sit out if the sun makes an appearance which on our visit it did, a guest lounge and conservatory, with wine and beers available to purchase at reasonable prices.

Our room on the top floor was bright and airy, with a tea tray with Lotus biscuits and chocolate tiffin, complimentary vegan toiletries, hair dryer and plant milk of choice kept in a fridge on the landing.   A guest information pack gives you ideas on what to do in the area and which restaurants and cafes cater for vegans, so no having to research beforehand.

The dining room has two windows overlooking Peasholm Park, so we grabbed a table in the window in the light and spacious dining room, although guests can be accommodated in the lounge, if they want a quieter breakfast.

Karl and Helen offer a fantastic breakfast selection of juices, fresh fruits, cereals, yogurts, overnight oats, smoothies, croissants, pain au chocolat, toast and full English breakfast or whatever takes your fancy from the hot options.

Steven managed a full English both mornings, although I wimped out and only had sausages, mushrooms and tomatoes, but after fruit, overnight oats and loads of toast I was fit to burst.  Helen is an accomplished chef, with the added recognition of completing T Colin Campbell's  'Plant Based Nutrition Program'.   The food throughout our stay was scrumptious, we could not fault anything and the attention to detail about allergies is exceptional, many places could learn a thing or two.

Helen and Karl are wonderful hosts and compassionate people and no request is too small, they bend over backwards to look after their guests.   We were offered fruit to take with us during the day, other guests were offered coats or umbrellas as it was raining one morning.   Karl and Helen interact with guests, some who booked prior to them taking over, so not expecting a vegan experience, yet leave with a positive understanding of veganism and maybe even a seed sown.   Karl has been vegan many years and is the most enthusiastic advocate I have ever met in my life and he has endless energy.

Vegan B&B's are few and far between and staying here means vegan guests can relax, happy in the knowledge that everything is 100% animal and cruelty free.   I cannot recommend Peasholm Park Vegan B&B highly enough and I for one will be making a return visit.
