New Dawn Vegan Coffee Shop by Derwentwater Youth Hostel in Borrowdale 5th & 7th November 2024

New Dawn Vegan Coffee Shop is a peaceful cruelty free oasis in the Lakes, run by a passionate lady called Dawn.   This should be on everyones to visit list for top notch coffee roasted locally by Podda and Wren in Kendal and gorgeous vegan cakes and cookies baked with love by Dawn.

We visited twice on a weeks self catering trip to Keswick, as the 78 bus from the town stops right outside where Dawn parks at Derwentwater Youth Hostel.   The setting is fabulous overlooking Derwentwater with a small seating area, where Dawn sets out chairs for you to chill, relax and reflect.

All drinks are served in Vegware compostable cups made from plants which is brilliant or you can take your own to be filled with your favourite drink.

We had such a great time on our visits to New Dawn Vegan Coffee Shop, you get such a warm welcome off Dawn with a big smile.   I love her enthusiasm and activism because of course the majority of her customers are not vegan, but she is doing a great job of introducing them to the world of vegan and how small changes can lead to bigger things.  We all start our vegan journey somewhere and Dawn's cakes and oat milk coffee are enough to sow the seed I am sure.
