Holy Cannoli Palatine Buildings Great Harwood 22nd September 2021

Holy Cannoli is a 100% vegan cafe and somewhere I have wanted to visit for ages and today was the day.   Holy Cannoli is just off the main street in Great Harwood, with a handy free car park just round the corner on Glebe Street.

I loved the modern contemporary interior and felt lucky to get a seat on the banquette in the window, with a view of the open kitchen, as five minutes after we arrived, the place was full.

The menu has a good selection of dishes, with the special of the day being wild mushroom soup, with cakes and pastries in the display cabinet.

I chose roasted vine tomatoes with cannellini bean pate on toast, a breakfast stack for Steven, two teas with oat milk and a sparkling water.   There was a short wait as food is cooked fresh to order and when served the plates looked amazing, we just wanted to tuck right in.   We could not fault either dish, which were full of flavour, perfectly cooked and we left clean plates.

We could not resist cakes, especially as Steven has been dying to try their cannoli, all handmade on site, with a choice of lemon or pistachio filling, so he went for lemon, with a black forest tiffin for me and two espresso.

The photos say it all, the cakes were scrumptious, decadent and lush and Steven was in cannoli heaven and felt like he was in Italy with the top notch espresso.

Holy Cannoli is a gem of a place and owner Rachel made us feel so welcome and with her dad as chef, this is a proper family concern and one I want to support.   I cannot wait to revisit, especially as Rachel mentioned possible future supper clubs, which got me all excited.
