The Almond Tree is a little walk out of the town centre and we visited for breakfast, on our last day in Brighton. I love the frontage with its colourful outside seating and signs outside clearly saying they are vegan friendly.
I contacted co-owner Michaela prior to our visit, to ask if they could accommodate my allergies and had a very speedy response to say it would be no problem. The cafe is warm and welcoming and doing a busy trade when we arrived, as people came and went buying takeaway coffee.
The menu has an excellent choice of dishes and if we had been stopping a few more days, we would have returned for lunch.
The breakfast included a choice of juice, so I opted for orange along with a black Americano coffee.
I chose a vegan breakfast of grilled polenta, tomatoes, mushrooms, fried potato and spinach and avocado, with a side of toast.
My breakfast was excellent, perfectly cooked and seasoned, the polenta was a great addition and the coffee was top notch, not surprising when I found out owners Michaela and Claudio were both from Italy, renowned for its coffee. They made a great team with Michaela at front of house and Claudio in the kitchen and were really friendly and helpful.
I would love to return when I next return to Brighton, but The Almond Tree is highly recommended and definitely worth the walk.
